U Built The Bridge – Check ma lyrics

This post is dedicated to all who came before and paved the way…and especially for my Mum. Love you Mum.

I was given the book The Power of Now by Ekhart Tolle for my birthday by my Bastedo bandmate Celia. Thanks Love x. Other people had also told me about this book and I have just had a chance to start reading it. So far so great. Anyway…I decided to watch a show on Oprah’s OWN network, and one of the first things I came across was a taping she has done with Eckhart! So I’m in the middle of watching it…when ANOTHER LYRIC came into my head that I had written. The lyric I wrote many years ago was inspired by an Oprah episode where she spoke about the the bridges that are built by others, we walk on. It inspired this lyric.

U Built The Bridge

All the things that you’ve been through

Give me energy

I try to turn the tide ensure

I ain’t repeating history

I know you only want the best for me…

I understand

It can’t have been easy

You sacrificed so many times

To pave the way for me

The solo tears I know you cried

For your family

I appreciate the things you’ve done

That’s why I take the torch and carry on

To build the bridge that I now walk upon

You built a bridge so strong I can’t go wrong

The road’s been very hard and very long

To build the bridge that I now walk upon

Your influence inspires me

To be all I can be

The stains of pain inside your brain

Shrouded in secrecy

But its written on your face

And those in the know can see

Your life can’t have been easy

To build the bridge that I now walk upon

You built a bridge so strong I can’t go wrong

The road’s been very hard and very long

To build the bridge that I now walk upon

You tried

So hard

You sacrificed your life…

To build the bridge that I now walk upon

You built a bridge so strong I can’t go wrong

The road’s been very hard and very long

To build the bridge that I now walk upon
